PlayStation has announced a new partnership with Discord.

At PlayStation, we’re always searching for new ways for players all around the world to interact with one another, build new connections and communities, and share memorable experiences. In this spirit, we’re thrilled to announce a new relationship with Discord, the gaming-focused chat service that is used by over 140 million people every month all around the world.

Our teams are already hard at work linking Discord to your PlayStation Network social and gaming experiences. Starting early next year, we want to bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences closer together on console and mobile, making it easier for friends, groups, and communities to hang out, have fun, and communicate while playing games together.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has made a minority investment in Discord’s Series H financing to help bring these experiences to live for our members. I was motivated by co-founders Jason Citron and Stan Vishnevskiy’s lifetime love of gaming and our teams’ shared passion to help connect friends and communities together in new ways from our very first chat. We are ecstatic to begin this adventure with one of the world’s most popular communication platforms, as it is at the heart of what we do: empowering gamers to create communities and share shared gaming experiences.

Working with excellent partners to deliver new experiences to our fans is always a pleasure, and we’ll have more to share in the coming months. For the most up-to-date information, follow us on Twitter at @Discord.
